Black Heart

Wandering through the mine of my deep black heart
A diamond you struck it
And made it shine
Held it close
it was jagged imperfect yet undeniably beautiful
You held it
Left hand, right hand
Left hand then in your right hand
You took its rights and walked off
My heart bled black
Hoping you would come back
To fill this space
But here I lie in salty pools
It’s too dark to see
Too dark to find my way out
Not enough strength to find my gem
So here I’ll be in this deep dark mine
Promise another won’t find nothing but cold coals
And bland minerals
Nothing too real
Nothing to see, nothing to feel.
